Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie istoty systemów wczesnego ostrzegania w zarządzaniu projektami w kontekście osiągania celów projektów. Potrzeba stosowania narzędzi wczesnego ostrzegania w zarządzaniu projektami ma uzasadnienie przede wszystkim w fakcie, że z reguły (pomijając zdarzenia nadzwyczajne) przedsiębiorstwa wykazują objawy sytuacji kryzysowych w realizacji podejmowanych projektów na długo przedtem zanim dojdzie do niepowodzenia projektu. Twitter sentiment as a weak signal in venture capital financing

Abstract How do venture capitalists (VCs) incorporate weak and strong signals in the valuation of technology-based startups? Based on a sociocognitive perspective of signaling theory, we introduce Twitter sentiment as a novel and weak signal, which we juxtapose with patents as a traditional, strong signal. While we find a positive association between both signals and VCs' venture valuations, our results reveal that Twitter sentiment does not correlate with actual long-term investment success, whereas patents do. Diffusion stabilizes cavity solitons in bidirectional lasers

We study the influence of field diffusion on the spatial localized structures (cavity solitons) recently predicted in bidirectional lasers. We find twofold positive role of the diffusion: 1) it increases the stability range of the individual (isolated) solitons; 2) it reduces the long-range interaction between the cavity solitons. Latter allows the independent manipulation (writing and erasing) of individual cavity solitons.
